The Mallard Pool is our most popular fishing pool at Spring Lea. Set over 1.3 acres of water, the Mallard pool has 48 pegs, all with easy access. The pool also includes two larger pegs with rails, which are great used as teaching pegs for younger anglers or for disabled access.

This is an open water pool, with two necks that creates a fantastic water feature. The pool boasts depths up to 6-8ft in parts, with a silt/clay bottom.

The Mallard Pool fishing pegs have been completely rebuilt, with a gravel path leading the whole length round the pool. The most popular pegs are 1, 24, 28, 34, 42 and 48 – make sure you book ahead to secure your place at one of these popular spots!

You’ll find this fishing lake well-stocked, filled with hard fighting mirror, common and grass carp, weighing up to 18lbs. The pool also includes other fish species, such as bream, tench and silverfish. The Mallard Pool is a popular match pool, holding the fishery record of 298lbs, recorded in 2020 over a 5-hour match. A Spring Lea Fisher tip – use hard pellets or corn when fishing at this pool! In the summer months, you’ll also find a lot of the fish here feeding tight on the margins.

Please note that fishery pellets and landing nets must be used at this fishing pool. Please bring a landing net handle with you when visiting.
