Trevors Lake | Spring Lea Fishery and Holiday Park | Fishing Lake Opening

A large re-developed fishing lake, Trevor’s spans 2 acres of water with a depth of up to 15ft and is one of five premium fishing lakes at Spring Lea Holiday Park and Fishery. Councillor Roger Evans, Shropshire County Council member for Longden division, cut the red tape to officially declare the new lake, Trevor’s Pool, open for fishing!

Trevor’s Pool is kept well-stocked with 50 hand selected Carp ranging from 12lb – 33lb. The mirror, common and grass carp released in Trevor’s Specimen Carp Lake have been specially selected with the aim of making the fishing pool one of the best in Shropshire. The lake is named after Trevor Potter, a previous owner of the fishery.

Owners, Salop Caravan Sites, will be investing around £2 million into the holiday park and fishery, and all five lakes have been restocked for the new coarse fishing season. There is a café and tackle and bait shop on site which sells essential tackle and tried and tested bait.

“I welcome the investment by Salop Caravan Sites in the facilities at Spring Lea Fishery and Holiday Park,” said Cllr Evans. “It will be a credit to the area, and I am sure that people who visit will appreciate the views and scenery.”

Anglers can buy a 24-hour ticket for £25 or a 12-hour ticket for £16 to fish for the specimen carp lake. The fishery also includes Horseshoe Pool, spanning more than one acre with access to 26 pegs, the 1.3-acre Mallard Pool with 48 pegs, the 1.4-acre Orfe Pool with 42 peg and one-acre Canal Pool, the only fishing pool of its kind in Shropshire designed to mimic a 10-metre wide natural canal.

The fishery also hosts five open fishing matching a week as well as competitions for angling clubs across Shropshire and Mid Wales. Full details are available from fishery manager Bryan Waterman on Tel: 01743 860972.

Spring Lea Fishery and Holiday Park occupies 25 acres of countryside on the edge of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The park has 20 seasonal, hardstanding pitches for touring caravans and motorhomes and 10 premium camping pitches.

Further development at the dog-friendly park will include 40 holiday homes, 18 glamping pods, six luxury lodges and new reception and facilities building with a gym, café and outside eating area over the coming years.
